Writing HR & People policies is an art.
You need to find the perfect balance between being overly prescriptive and frustrating people by not providing them with the information they're after.
Try focusing on these 3 things:
🐚 Facilitating an inclusive and consistent employee experience that will contribute positively to your culture;
💡 Providing people with the context they need to make informed decisions autonomously;
👯♂️ Building a common understanding (P.S. "reasonable" and "best judgment" mean something different to everyone).
Your policies are not meant to pre-empt all the bad things some people could do (you'd always forget something anyway!), but they still need to answer the questions your people have when they decide to read them.
